This Kokeshi Doll was found in an antique market in Kyoto. Kokeshi (こけし, 小芥子), are simple wooden Japanese dolls with no arms or legs that have been crafted for more than 150 years as a toy for children.

Our friend Kingy is based in Kyoto with her husband and baby daughter. She trawls through antique markets and hidden vintage stores in the area to find us amazing goodies.

Kingy is a photographer by trade and shoots the pieces she finds in her parent-in-law's old machiya in town.
