About Hender Scheme

Started in 2010 by Ryo Kashiwazaki, the brand has garnered global acclaim for their natural leather reinterpretations of iconic footwear silhouettes. Each one is designed and produced in the historic Asakusa neighbourhood of Tokyo, Japan. They now produce everything from leather puzzles and handbags, to sock and incense.

"Gender" means social and cultural differences about sex,

while "sex" refers to physical and biological

differences Hender Scheme proposes a concept which surpasses the "gender" schema based on society, but returns to the idea of "sex" based on one's appearance.

Asakusa retains the vibe of an older Tokyo, with traditional craft shops and street-food stalls along Nakamise Street near the ancient Sensō-ji temple. Mid-19th-century Hanayashiki amusement park has rides and cafes, while riverside Kuritsu Sumida Park hosts regular festivals and firework displays.
