Made to Shinwa to Japanese Industrial Standards, these tapes are sturdy and practical. An essential tool every craftsman needs.

25mm-wide carbon steel with a white baked finish and protective nylon coating. It will give a standout of 2.2 to 2.4 metres.

The Kiwadachi housing has a rubberised exterior finish and has not a single straight line or hard edge. It nestles in the hand beautifully, and the tightly wound tape keeps it small but with a nice weight.

The faces are easy to read with large whole digits and every 10cm increment picked out in red.

The reverse side of the tape reads vertically. The lock engages well and holds tight. The return mechanism is fast without being violent.

Shinwa Rules Co., Ltd. was established in 1971 by the integration of three measuring instrument manufacturers: Watanabe Doki Seisakusho, Hanyu Keiki and Watasei Doki Seisakusho. At that time, the primary concern was enhancing the productivity of our manufacturing plants in anticipation of a rapid increase in production volume due to Japan’s dramatic economic growth. For that reason, they installed automated plating machinery and extended manufacturing plants. They also installed a wastewater treatment facility to make sure hazardous materials did not leak out with our discharged water; Shinwa were an eco-conscious corporation even back then.
