A beautifully handcrafted cup is a  lovely blend of minimal artistry and utility. Perfect for the home coming into the warmer months.

Working from a small studio on Gundungurra Land in the Wollondilly Shire, Melody Brunton seeks to creates works that celebrates the dynamicity of clay, attempting to capture the flux of the medium - immortalising the materials from the land into ceramic pieces.

Melody's work is also informed by her Japanese cultural roots, in tandem with the Australian context which she creates in. The Japanese sensibility of practical yet beautiful craft as expressed in Sotsue Yanagi exploration of mingei (hand-crafted art of ordinary people) is core to her practice.

Teapots have long been an aspiration of Melody’s to make however there are so many components that need to work in symphony with each other to make a good teapot. The lid, the spout, filter and handle all have to work together for the perfect pour.

With this recent batch she’s also made teapot warmers which with the aid of a tea light keep your brew warm perfect as we come into cooler months.
