Story
Every year we decorate the Provider Store shop window with our own Japanese decorations and every year we get comments about them and if we sell them, every year we turned people away as these were too precious to us to sell. On our recent trip we were on a mission to find these decorations again, and with some luck we found some at a small market, so we loaded up and brought them all back with us to share with our Provider friends.
Craft
Japanese Temari which translates to ‘hand ball’ is a centuries old folk craft. Craftspeople use colourful thread that is woven into intricate designs creating a unique colourful ball. Traditionally they were made using fabric scraps as a way to transform them and use them for something so they didn't go to waste. It is said that these balls where gifted to friends and family as a token of good luck and good fortune.
