Ishi means "stone" in Japanese, and every detail of this vessel reflects that inspiration. Its softly rounded form feels substantial in the hand, while the black clay body and speckled yellow glaze echo the textures and colours found in weathered rock. Strong yet understated, it's a piece designed to bring a quiet sense of permanence to everyday rituals.
Designed to be used well beyond its burn time, the Ishi vessel is made to become part of your everyday rituals. Every piece is individually glazed, making each candle subtly unique.
Story
When visiting the ceramic workshops of Tajimi, we found ourselves drawn to forms that feel timeless. The Ishi vessel was one of those pieces. Its quiet, grounded presence and tactile finish immediately stood put to us.
Working alongside master potters in Tajimi, we developed the vessel before carefully hand-pouring each candle in our Sydney studio. Once the wax has burned away, the ceramic continues its story as a tea cup, coffee cup or can be brought back to our Surry Hills store for a candle refill.
Ingredients & Craft
Our studio is located in Sydney's Surry Hills, it is there we pour and craft each and every one of our candles.
Every Provider candle is designed with a second life in mind. Once the candle has finished burning, simply wash the vessel with warm soapy water and continue using it as a tea cup, coffee cup or planter. If you're nearby, bring it back to our Surry Hills store and we'll refill it with your favourite scent.
