With modern inventions such as vacuum cleaners and younger generations turning away from the art form, the number of craftspeople making these brooms has dramatically decreased. However, there are still several makers in their 80s and 90s making these handmade brooms. Each one is slowly made by hand using grass sourced both locally and from imported materials. Unlike cheap plastic brooms, these are built to last for many years, a testament to the craft and the material.
