Story
KITOWA was born in 2018 as Japan's first Maison fragrance that combines traditional Waki natural oil with perfume-level aroma. Launched by incense company, Nippon Kodo that was founded in 1575, Kitowa is a contemporary line of aromas that make use of the five senses by blending traditional Japanese ingredients.
KITOWA was developed by the best Japanese perfumer working for the Nippon Kodo laboratories. Each aroma is blended with inspiration of Japanese majestic trees: Hinoki, Hiba, and Kusunoki.
Hinoki, a tree that has been revered as sacred in Japan. It is a mystical and invigorating, woody aroma with breezy exhilaration of cypress. The iris in in the aroma conjures up the image of a white bark, giving depth and harmony with the scent of sandalwood.
Kusunoki, full of freshness as if symbolising a tropical tree, weaved in with the balmy aroma of bergamot and grapefruit. The floral of lily-of-the-valley invites a sensual last note with a musky tone.
Aomori Hiba, one of the three most beautiful forests in Japan, it exudes a profound, woody aroma. This fragrance has a breeziness feel of pine needle and tea tree. A lingering scent of sweet, warm tonka beans and amber expands as the keynote.
With 450 years in the aroma business, they have walked along with the history of Japanese incense culture, even offering incense to the imperial family
