Story

On Tara's most recent trip to Japan, she travelled through the Gifu Prefecture, a region we return to often, as many of our ceramics are made there. During this visit, she stopped by a new showroom to have a look at some potential new candle cups. Instead, the team brought out a crate filled with beautifully hand-crafted bowls and cups.

Immediately drawn to them, Tara asked about the maker and whether it might be possible to visit their workshop. Sadly, the showroom manager explained that the family-run studio had closed a few years earlier, leaving behind only a small collection of remaining pieces. Of course we snapped up the whole lot. Each piece is beautifully handmade with an organic look and feel finished using Kohiki, a traditional Japanese ceramic technique.
