We found this abacus at an antique market, although these are not widely used back here in Australia, we love how prolific these still are throughout Japan. There have been many times we have bought bits and pieces and the shop owner tallies up pricing with an abacus. Whether you want to use it or just keep it decorative, these are always cool pieces to have in the home.

Story

We braved the brisk winters morning to venture to this market in Nagoya to see what we could find. Once there we found so many beautiful pieces from antique matcha bowls, to baskets and of course we couldn't resists picking up some quirky animals along the way too.
