This Japanese porcelain cup was designed by Milly during an Art Residency at Kouraku Gama, Arita, the birthplace of porcelain in Japan. Ideal for water, wine, coffee or to display flowers.
About:

This piece was made with three main design considerations:

  1. Form: The shape of the cup must be easy for the user to hold in their hand and the lip of the cup must be comfortable against the of it's user. The form should stand the test of time
    2. Material: The material must be translucent, vitrified and durable for everyday use. It should present it's content beautifully.
    3. Capacity: It should hold a satisfying amound of liquid for it's user and must consider the way the liquid moved through the vessel into the user's mouth.

The Kumo Cup (雲- Cloud) come as singles or in sets of three as an ode to Japanese superstitions surrounding the unlucky nature of the number four.
